What causes a heart to ache more than fretting and missing a loved one – especially a loved one out in the wide world, who might be less sophisticated than how we might want for them to be? How will they meet their basic needs – how will they find their way home? A peacock can remember good treats surprisingly well.

A figure greets a peacock with grapes as he walks through a front gate, and a second peacock crosses the garden towards the same feeding figure to see if he should have some grapes as well. An allusion to the parable of The Prodigal Son, Your Father and I Have is about receiving a peacock back into the garden after he has been gone for a while. Does the other peacock resent him upon his return? It doesn’t matter.

The composition of this image is an A-frame on its side, with the point on the left edge of the image area; with a shorter, overlapping A-frame connecting the center point to the right center edge – the two triangles are like a Masonic square and compass arrangement on its side. A spiral begins in the top right corner, sweeps down and towards the left, and curls up into the expression of the figure. The geometry of how this arrangement supports the perspective and allegory pleases me, especially where it perfectly aligns.

The purchase price of this drawing depends on framing. Within a driving radius of Vista, California, I can deliver and install this drawing, framed, for $3,000. Inside OR outside of the driving distance, it is best for me to sell this drawing unframed, for $2,000 delivering it rolled up into a tube via mail/FedEx. It can then be coordinated for the work to go directly to a framer in the same town as the purchaser.
